Help Boost mobile Samsung galaxy s5

I have a boost mobile Samsung galaxy s5 SM G900P. Can I root this device? If so, how? I read the all things root guide and it just confused the crap outta me. I successfully rooted my old phone 4 years ago but it's been forever since I've done this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all you developers and computer sorcerers lol.

The radio is what makes a phone a phone. That's only if you plan on installing a custom ROM. Looks like you can unlock the bootloader root it and install TWRP.

Does CF-ROOT only allow me to do certain things once I've rooted, or will it allow me to do anything that a "more advanced root" (if there is such a thing) allows me to do? I want custom roms and the whole 9 yards.

Root gives you the ability to alter parts of the file system that are critical to the devices operation. There are Systemless root methods that will leave these unaltered. This is for those who still want to use things like Android Pay or as an attempt to keep the device under warranty. If you want a custom ROM, having an unlocked Bootloader and custom recovery (TWRP) are the critical components.
IOW, Root is root. You can do with it what you choose. Remember the Radio.

You need TWRP installed. Simply boot into TWRP, select backup, select storage, external if available, check all boxes, swipe to start.
If you don't have an sdcard then be sure to copy the backup to a computer.

Can you do me a favor and post your full model #. Should be something like G900PVPU3CPH3 .
I would like to make sure your firmware is available, in case you Bork it.

Good news. Your firmware has been officially released. Go to this site, start a free account and download it to a computer. Directions are at bottom. You can use odin and this firmware to restore your phone in case you bork it. This is your backup for now. Remember though that flashing will totally wipe the internal storage.

Downloading is slow so better to do it now than when you are in a panic. Trust me on that one.

Edit: You really should buy a cheapo laptop. You can get a decent one for $50. Decent enough for Odin at least.

Can you watch this YouTube video and give me your 2 cents on it please?
