Root [Boost Mobile] Trying to send my phone to Samsung. How to remove Binary Counter w/o root?

I agree. This sounds like a hardware malfunction which should be covered under the warranty.

Any guys who've gone through hardware issues after rooting, Nooski could sure use some info about whether or not Samsung gave you any grief about it. I've personally read where Samsung has honored the hardware warranty even after rooting in the past. This was back with the Prevail though. I'm not sure what their policy is now and if it's been changed. Only one sure fire way to find out and that's to call and speak with a supervisor.

I wish you the best of luck bro. The only other option is to change the speaker yourself. I've never opened mine up so I have no idea what that would entail.

Well I see 4 options here.
SInce you have knox, warrenty IS void, and they do have the option to refuse service.

So you have the following:
1: Put up with it and do nothing
2: replace the speaker yourself, maybe a good lesson to learn how to do it yourself so ta speak :).
3: Return it to the place you bought it and hope they have some cool tech there that knows how us underground rooter/techy's think and just says eh, not a problem, we'll get it taken care of
or
4: Same as number 3, but return to samsung themselves and hope they do that same thing.

Options 3 and 4 have a 50/50 chance or working or not....so worst case scenario? they say no, and your stuck with option 1 and 2, in which case you just have to shrug it off and try and find another alternative hopefully.

I wouldn't right off samsung for it though, it can happen with ANY product....this happens when you have mass production, things get messed up.

I know it blows, really I do I've been in this same scenario many times, but I've gotten old enough now to try and keep a positive side, if at all possible, and in the worst case of this, the worst you'd have are 1 and 2.

Not trying to be a downer, and I really do wish the best in whatever you do, just weighing out the options, because it does seem it's a hardware thing not software.

I truly wish I could snap my fingers and fix it for ya though.....being as I've been there and as I am a dirt poor person myself :), I feel your dilemma and pain and can relate.

Best I can do is be a support group (of one) heh....wait can a single person be a group? hrmmm ;)

I've ordered the parts for under 20 dollars. I've tackled a few projects few projects similar to this but repairing a phone will be a first. A phone guy kind of helped me diagnose the problem and i Hope it is fixed.

The guy who sold me the phone took off the water-moisture strip from the phone and just slapped a new battery in it. Gosh :(

Figures typical incompetence once again. I fail to see how a battery should affect the speaker.:confused:

Did you ask and inquire as to how the battery would affect the speaker?

This is when I would be nice but assertive and ask questions. The worst they can tell you is they won't cover it, but most times just like a bully if you call them out they will cooperate......politely of course and as I said if they pull the "won't cover it" card, then you at least can make a choice what to do then.

Another option I thought of, although probably the last option, selling it if the other steps didn't work. I've seen some crazy buys on phones that people buy. One guy was selling a s3 for $300 and it had a shattered screen. Insane...... Crazy thing is someone probably bought it at that price

The person who transferred his ownership to me sold me the phone, obviously.

He took OFF that moisture strip found in the battery compartment on the phone. The OEM battery probably didn't work so he replaced it with another battery that didn't indicate it's wet (or in other words, a dry battery).

Too long; didn't read = he took off the moisture strip from the phone and replaced the battery so I wouldn't know if he dropped it in water.

NOW, fast forward a few days later I take it to a repair place and he tells me what the problem could be. Only thing is that the problem can or cannot come back since the phone was submerged in water.

Ouch that sux. I feel yet pain.
That's why I always steer clear from those kind if buys, no matter how good they look.

I hope you get it worked it though. Sad that people are like that. :(

I know. I knew something was up because he didn't want to sell it to my physically and instead told his girlfriend to sell it to me.

... I take it to a repair place and he tells me what the problem could be. ... since the phone was submerged in water.
Don't bother sending it to Samsung for repair, they will not touch it unless you are willing shovel out some doe. They will know it was dropped in water and that obviously voids the warranty, you had a chance with the Knox only but now 0% chance.

Here's a video I found on YouTube showing you how to replace the speaker in the S3. there are a few others there too. I saw several on how to replace the speaker on the S2. There shouldn't be much difference between the 2.

Hope it helps bro. :)

samsung galaxy s3 speaker replacement - YouTube

EDIT..... just watched this entire video and this guy makes it look easy. If you're decent with gadgets, this should be a piece if cake replacing the speaker bro. ;)

Lmao @ the super tech geek comment. Believe it or not, that's what my brother in law calls me. :D:p I'm just the type that rides a Harley and has a knock out punch. :D

Sorry bro but I don't. If you can't find one by itself try looking on Ebay for an S3 that's broken. Make sure to ask the seller if the LED was damaged.

Also, make sure you've got in to your phone and actually turned the LED light on. By default it's set to off. You can set it to off, auto, or on in the camera settings with most ROMs. You've probably already checked it but I still had to ask if you've checked to make sure it's on. :)

Its on but no light. I'm running MOAR on it. Using the LG F7 to type this :)

Hmm, looks like it's dead then and is gonna have to be replaced. Give YouTube a thorough search on how to replace an LED light. I'm sure you'll find something.

I find it strange that it's not working though. Those things are supposed to last for a long time. Had to be the water damage that caused it.

Bro, if you bought if off Ebay, I would do my damndest to try and fight to get the seller to take it back. Ebay has strick rules on sellers selling bogus items.

Edit:

I just read that you bought it off on online forum. Contact them and see what their policies are.
