Root [Boost Mobile] Weird wifi issues with a couple of roms...

BLVCKHVLO

Android Enthusiast
So I have experienced some issues with a couple of roms with an app or two pertaining to wifi. I have queried the makers of these apps and they basically told me to ask whoever deved these roms to look at my logs. I'm not sure where to post this....

I am running the last noob that was b08c based. My issue is with a program called Plume (twitter client). It refuses to authenticate or log in. I have to switch to 3g, and everything runs as it should, but when I switch back to wifi I cannot do anything (search, update timeline etc.), this has happened with another app as well. I'm not sure what's going on. I've tried everything from wiping my phone, re-installing my rom, the program etc.

The log reproduces the issue as well as singles out this program in particular as other clients work fine on wifi. I have also had issues with juice defender not initializing wifi after being on 3g. For some reason after I installed warpin colors this went away... shrugs*?

Anyway @Mr bobo or anybody else who might be able to have a look and tell me what the hell these logs say, I would appreciate it, as this doesn't happen on other devices.

I really don't wantto get rid of n00b if I can figure out what the heck is going on, but if another rom is working I might have to make the switch. Sucks because my phone is running so sweet.

Just tried the latest noob, and not only am I having the same issues, but now Wi-Fi doesn't want to reinitialize when juice defender manages between Wi-Fi and data. I have to manually toggle Wi-Fi.

I have never had a problem with the noob rom wifi, ran it for almost 6 months and still have it on this phone for my back up while running the beta JB, i would say reinstall, dont install any third party wifi toggle etc and see if that works. And then go from there :D

I'll just change I've already done that(reinstall). I'm going to try another kernel. If I can't make it work I'll just try another rom. I actually pay for my apps. I've I'm having multiple issues with several apps on one rom, the issue clearly isn't with my apps. Noob is awesome but I need something that willwork. Not complaining about free or an awesome phone dev at all. just informing them so they are aware of what could be issues so they might be able to fix them thus learn.

Well thats your call, sorry your having issues with it, but your the first on this rom that has issues with the wifi not working in a very long time. Good luck...;)

Sounds app specific, the kernel I use has it's own wifi modules so a stock kernel and wifi modules might do the trick... Or ping the app author or go with another rom... Might try the alien kernel too

Yeah it's only with Juice defender and plume. These are some of the best GB roms I have used regardless of which phone. I've had better hardware, but not as smooth running and functional or stable.

So it's not issues with the wifi itself, but how it interacts with other programs. I doubt these are stock modules- surely this stuff has been altered and it isn't playing well anymore. I have none of these issues on stock rom, but I would rather be left with a couple of apps not working rather than have my phone constantly rebooting every five minutes lol.

Edit- just read mr bobo's post above. I concur. It just sucks because these kernels have a lot of stuff enabled for things like swap and programs like Luks... :( I'm going to have to learn to dev my own kernels or get another phone.
