Root [Boost Mobile] Why are these things in my phones root?

Smoothkaos

Android Expert
I've noticed that the following files are in my phone's root, i.e. " / " minus the quotes (no, not the system which would be /system) and don't know why but would like to even if they're supposed to be. I was on the phone talking with StarScream when I noticed and he didn't realize they were there either and I'm hoping that somebody knows. I'm thinking that they're there from an OTA or something from Boost because most are dated June 16th, 2012 and StarScream's were dated the same. I've bolded the ones that are dated 16 Jun 12 for easier reading.

default.prop dated 27 Aug 12
init dated 21 Aug 12
init.arthur.rc dated 16 Jun 12
init.goldfish.rc dated 16 Jun 12
init.qcom.rc dated 16 Jun 12
init.qcom.sh dated 16 Jun 12
init.rc dated 16 Aug 12
initlogo.rle dated 16 Jun 12
ueventd.goldfish.rc dated 16 Jun 12
ueventd.rc dated 16 Jun 12
vendor dated 29 Sept 12

Somebody enlighten me please :D

Short answer, because they need to be. They are part of the phones OS and mostly tied directly to the kernel.

..and they are dated like that because that's when the kernel image was built or when they were last modified and added to the image.

These are hardware initialization scripts for the various components of the Warp. Arthur is the codename for our motherboard, I deleted initlogo.rle with no adverse side effects, and I'm not sure I remember what hardware is referred to by "goldfish" but I'm fairly they're all necessary for the phone's proper function.

just delete them all their useless files ;/ pssh build prop qcom, nothing important
edit; please dont do that, joke, wrong, all important. actually good idea for those who didnt know this to at least take a look at the files, read some code, visually develop that link...
