Root [Boost Mobile] Working ROMS/MODS/KERNELS/MODEMS/ECT for the Boost S3

Just another quick question, when I did the updater script, if I did something wrong in that, it wouldn't boot the rom at all, right?? Also, I just restored my backup of another rom and was doing some monking around, I noticed the core gapps file also has a updater script, was I suppose to use that same updater script I used to change the vanir rom??

I googled this problem and it seems like it might have something to do with the recovery. I am using twrp v2.6.0.0. Can anyone else that has flashed this rom with no problems tell me what version they are on?? Thanks

This error was coming up every 3 to 4 seconds, I wnt into more, mobile networks and now when I get the same error message, I click on ok and it instantly pops back up, must be getting warmer somehow what is causing the problem?? Anyone have any ideas??

Biker said he had some reboots on that ROM and with your issue. Might be the ROM ... I haven't tried that one yet so idk

Ok, I think I'm getting closer to diagnosing the problem. When I go into settings-more-mobile networks-network mode and quickly click on cdma, then back to lte/cdma, the processcom.android window error stops. I turn my wifi off and I don't have any data. I go back into recovery and flash the piggyback zip, reboot and I again have that error. I go back into settings-more-mobile settings-network mode and try to change it to cdma (like I did last time) but this time it automatically reverts back to lte/cdma and closes the network mode menu and the error continues. Any suggestions??

If I let the phone set for about 15 minutes, I can then switch the network mode to cdma, then back to lte, cdma and the error window stops. If I reboot again, I then start over with the error and have to start this process all over again. This is reallyt weird.

Official downloads are available at the TWRP website

However, I'm not versed in whether the prepaid devices used a modified recovery or not.

I'll do a little more digging

Ok, thank you for your help in finding the updated recovery for my phone. I went to the twrp website but cannot find the links to any recoveries and I don't know if they will work on my boost s3 or if there if a modified one??

I installed goo manager hoping that I could just update through that but I could not find a recovery update option, just rom update??

Ok, through goomanager I downloaded the latest but how do I install?? I went back into recovery and its still on 2.6.0 version and was gonna flash it but its not a zip and twrp cant find it??

This file it downloaded is not a zip but a ing file and neither twrp nor goomanager will recognize it, please help.

Does anyone know where I can get the 2.6.3 version (zip) of twrp that will work on the boost s3??

I'm using the version of TWRP found here. Scroll down to the Odin Packages.

Also, when I did my initial wipe, I wiped just about everything. I did a factory reset, then went into advanced and wiped dalvik, data, and cache. You can wipe internal too. Just make sure you make a backup of your internal and keep it on a computer as I mentioned earlier. These AOSP ROMs make duplicate folders on internal and the sd card both.

You can try skipping the Piggyback.zip step because I'm pretty sure 4G isn't going to work with these ROMs. The Boost xml file should fix your 3G and get MMS working.

I don't have 4G in my area so that's something I can't test.

I also had issues with the Vanir ROM. I had random freeze ups and random reboots.

I may end up just removing it from the list.

By chance, did you try the link iMaYG posted?

I wish a few others would test it out so we can get more input on how the ROM acts on their devices.

I haven't had any automatic boots or freezes, just this damn error that says process.android has stopped. One of the first times I flashed this rom and I didn't have data, I went back into recovery and flashed piggyback and when it rebooted, I had 3G and LTE(4G). But later on I rewiped and reflashed exactly as posted again and did the piggyback after that and no data whatsoever. It seemed like rebooting caused it to lose data, thats why I reflashed the piggyback, hopefully to get it back but did not work. I was hoping maybe this older version of twrp was somehow not wiping eveything or not installing everything, thats why I am trying to install the latest version to see what happens. When I googled the problem I was having, a few have said that when they updated their recovery and reflashed, the problem disappeared. I am also getting some error with tb but this process.android error started ever since I first flashed this rom before even installing tb so I know its not that app.

That link you provided is for img files though adb?? What is adb?? I have never done anything with adb before??How exactly do I do this with adb?? Or is there a zip I can just flash?? which would be easier??

Yup, I got a pop up from the Titanium app too telling me I may have issues with the app and if I did to update to Super SU. I didn't have any problems with Titanium though. It worked fine for me with SU.

If you having trouble with your recovery, you can use Odin and change it to the one I'm using.

I would flash back to a stable Touch Whiz ROM though before doing it.

Just use the guide here: http://androidforums.com/boost-mobi...1-guide-rooting-recovery-galaxy-s3-boost.html

Replace a few of the original steps with these:

1. Download TWRP Recovery, Samsung Drivers, Odin 3.04, and Root From Recovery Zip

TWRP image can be found here. Scroll down and look for the ODIN PACKAGES!! Select the TWRP download. ( It is tested and working... I'm running it now :D )

6. Place Odin Folder and TWRP File In A Folder On Your Desktop

10. Navigate To The TWRP recovery file ( recovery.tar.md5 ) And Double Click It.

21. It Should Take 10 Seconds, Once Odin Says 'PASS

I'm thinking this error somehow is related to the network??

Let me know because I am probably going to remove Vanir from the list or at least add that it is unstable.

I had issues with it but I didn't try the kernel iMaYG referred to either. He said that kernel is made for the Boost phone.

It would help if a few others would try the ROM and give me some feedback. :D

I was planning on testing and getting some new ROMs added to the list this weekend. Not sure it's gonna happen. I woke up running a 104 degree fever yesterday. The fever broke last night but I'm still feeling like sh*t. I've been in the bed. That's the reason it's taken me so long to get in here and reply to your posts.

I'm glad some of the other members jumped in to help out.

Thanks guys.

can some one please provide a safe to use kernel list im currently running Blazer ROM and it has stock kernel i want to change that but im too afraid to brick my phone by installing the wrong kernel

Thats ok, I hope you feel better. I'm back, feel better after having something to eat.
I restored my previous backup (dandroid) and I decided I would try to update twrp through goomanager. I installed goomanager and clicked on update and it downloaded the latest version and also said it had installed it. I booted into recovery and it is on the latest (2.6.3). Thanks for the steps but it doesn't look like I need that after all. I wiped data, cache, davlik and system x2 and flashed the vanir rom, then gapps, then rebooted, still had that error, no data, went back into recovery, flashed piggyback, fixed permissions, rebooted, still getting error. It appears that when I get this error, I go into the pull down menu and where it says signal, it flashes back and forth between searching for signal and no signal (red x). If I wait like 15 minutes and go into settings-more-mobile settings-network mode and change it to cdma, then change it back to lte/cdma, I then get a signal and my error stops.
Now , if I reboot, I again get the same error message and have to go through the whole process again.
This is really weird and above my head when it comes to fixing this, just hoping a developer can take what I have experienced and use that to fix the issue.
