Boost to throttle data

I do love how it talks about 2.5GB worth of Data being a lot. It isn't lol. I did a calculation for Verizon's comparison 4g speed for friends on facebook and in the ad they claimed 14. something Mbps and at that speed you could blow through 3GB of data in less than 30 minutes (which is laughable considering how much time a month billing cycle is). Even at the slower speeds we are getting on our 4g connections (say 5 to 6Mbps) would still less than 2 hours at 4g to blow through the data. So watch the amount of video streaming you do on your 4g.

I guess it is to be expected though as it becomes popular many people on streaming would clog it up pretty quick. They would have to put the breaks on some.

Yeah, not really sure how much data I blow through. And I agree, 2.5 isn't much at all depending on what you are doing. Rarely do I stream video off of wifi or at all on my phone. But I guess I will finally be getting around to adding music to my sd. Google play just made it so easy not to have too, I just use it to stream my music lol.
 
I called and they say they throttle you too 256kps. Can you still stream slackers?

Well I haven't passed 2.5GB in one month on 3g or 4g (I use WiFi at home) so I am still getting good speeds. I have gotten rid of the proxy settings in the multimedia section on the DATA menu.
 
I got the text yesturday. I have no 4g in my area and spotty 3g. I use mostly wifi. I hate limitation though. It really is unfair to change the contract of those who have been using the service. This is the second sucky thinv they did. First was change the monthly plan i was down to 35.00 when they went up in price. I wish i had money id love to be on verizon.
 
got the text a couple hrs ago too.. doubt I'll ever have 4g out here in the sticks but still hate limits none the less. The reason I dropped sprint for boost is slowly disappearing ( I know boost is owned by sprint ;) ). I never use much phone data cause I'm on wifi most of the time but there is something to the thought of having unlimited data that's not throttled after 2.5gb.... way it goes these days
 
I also got this on Friday.
I was under the impression that I would get 2.5GB of 4G data, and once that is used up I get backed down to 3G only (at full 3G speeds). This appears NOT to be the case.
Reading this, it seems that even if I kept 4G OFF the whole month and managed to +2.5gb on 3G, I'd still get throttled back to that useless speed at that point.

Not such great news. I pretty much start streaming Google Music and various internet radio stations the second I get in the car, along with Spotify, etc.

I've just changed all my Llama profiles to kill data whenever I'm somewhere (Home/work) that has wifi, and only enable data while I'm out of those areas.

Grrr... I knew this $40 a month dream come true wouldn't last forever. Not too happy about that. I've FINALLY got a phone that actually streams music flawlessly, AND let's me hav Nav or Waze running at the same time, and now I'm afraid to use any of it lol!

not sure how to change the 4G proxy settings

I have the same.
I could see those settings also affecting 4G also. Seeing as that proxy is under multimedia which can also mean content filtering etc.
 
Just ask for it? I did and she said sure. You call also go do data reset and it will give it to you. 1 english then 4 I think?
 
well.... damn... I just got off the phone with boost - got it in all of 10 seconds lol She was very understanding (the rep) & helpful.. Big Thanks to all you guys still cause some went out of their way :)
