Help Boosting my cell signal?

I've been using the Android Galaxy Precedent for a little while now. I'm really satisfied with how affordable it is, and all the options. I think its a great phone!

I recently moved, and naturally, the phones came with me and my wife. We've been having trouble with getting a decent signal inside the house. If I step outside, I can get 2 bars... but inside, I can have just one or zero bars and sometimes has to search for service. My mom has an iphone through Verizon and can get a good signal in the house when she visits.

In lieu of buying another phone/phone plan, moving (again), or only using our phones outside - is there anything we can do to improve our network signal? Obviously its in the area if I can use my phone outside. Naturally it would be nice if it were a matter of downloading a signal booster app and problem solved... I've tried several "network booster" apps to no avail.

Does anyone know, could I use an antenna on my phone or house that would help magnify the existing signal? Does anyone have any other recommendations?

If there's a weak signal, there's a weak signal. No app can turn a weak signal into a stronger signal. If your house has aluminum siding, that could be your problem - you're living inside a shield. Otherwise, about all you can do is buy a repeater for Sprint or change carriers (which means a new phone). If you opt for the latter, make sure you check the signal in the worst parts of the house with the same model phone you'll be buying, on the same carrier (AT&T or T-Mobile) you'll be using.

You're right about no app makes a stronger signal. I did find an app that helps "reboot" my signal when my phone gets stuck on "can't find service", and it helps sometimes...

I actually have wood siding on my house. Its an old, very large, 5 bedroom house. I live in a town that's one chromosome away from being rural. A coworker of mine has AT&T and has the same signal problems. 1 bar outside, nothing inside and he pays $100 per month on his plan.

I did call Straight Talk to ask them what was going on with my Android phone service. The were actually dumbfounded that I was getting a signal at all because they said they don't service the area I'm in. They asked me a ton of questions... it was borderline hilarious.

I used some of my rainy day money and bought the nicest Wilson Signal Booster they had. Now I get 2 bars in my office, one in the living room and one in two of the bedrooms upstairs. I didn't even do the best recommended mount either...

Considering that I was able to call my dad and talk to him for an hour inside my house on a phone/carrier that doesn't service my area, I'll take it.

Sprint has a device that hooks to your wifi and spits out a cell signal. This could possobly he modded to work with st but I haven seen it happen
Another option is groove ip. A voip sevice like skype that dosent have video calling. What it dose have tho is the ability to call phones for free even landlines. The app cost money then sign up for google talk then in settings forward everything to google talk wnd use ur wifi at home. Cheeper than new phone.
