Root boot animation repair

I have a rooted metro pcs alcatel one touch fierce. I tried to install a new boot animation and deleted the original. No animations I have tried to install work. I used rom toolbox pro, and have tried to install to all the locations is offers with no success. I also tried the JD cuspack media folder and no luck. I set the permisions to rw-r-r just like the shutanimation in the JD cuspack media folder and nothing works. So is there a way to put the original back and if not can someone give me an original update.zip. I have a zip but I made it after I deleted the bootanimation.zip... Thanx for any assistance in this matter!

Wow did you check the ROM tool box to see if it pops up in the animation folder if not it nothing to do if you power off it will go into default which is the android word showing .

No when you first rooted it say to make a full backup with cwm . please tell me you did this if not your warranty is truly voided
Who do you have as carrier T-Mobile or Metro PCs

if you have the original animation.zip try putting it back where it belongs. Although, when I removed mine i got a notification saying ownership of the file would not be retained. So consider it when replacing yours.

I think you need to do this unbrick return to stock

When your done and root you need to make a stable backup of the stock ROM .

Thanks I will try this and post the resaults...

Edit: I did not try your suggestion because the file I downloaded was lhum version and I have m2bupbo. I did extract the bootanimation.zip and put it in the JD cust/media folder but it did not work...

Has anyone figured out how to install a custom boot animation on this phone yet?

I don't what that guys talking about bricks for. Place the linked file in /custpack/JRD_custres/media if it does not work some chownage might be helpfull.

Thank you for the download. I copied it to the folder JD custres/media and changed the permissions to rw-r-r and even enabled animations with rom toolbox pro. Still does not work. I must have deleted another file somewhere. What is chownage?

Thanks again for the download though...

(chmod)rw-r-r (chown)dnrdustin root /custpack/JDM_custres/media/bootAnimation.zip

I'm not saying this will work. But I think it might be something to consider.

I did change the permisions as you stated... but still no go. I altered the files in them both so do you have the shutanimation.zip file that is also in that folder? If so I will just copy both in there...

Ok... I downloaded android rom toolkit and used the getprop... I noticed (at the top of the picture) that both boot animation and boot logo are stopped.

Is there any way ti fix this? I have tried the prop editor in rom toolbox pro but the option to change does not show up...

Can someone help me please? Thanks

I think when you add and change the permission you are to reboot or factory data wipe . is the boot zip called Bootanimation.zip

Yes I set permissions. What is a FDR?

FDR stands for factory data reset. from terminal "ll /custpack/JRD_custres/media/bootanimation.zip". If it doesn't read "-rw-r--r-- 1 0(<--user=root) 0(<--group=root) bootanimation.zip" you did not set permission(chmod) or ownership(chown) properly. Furthermore, I wouldnt be surprised if removing the animation broke a symlink or some other crap elsewhere on the phone. Your best bet is to stop messing with stuff you dont understand before you break your phone.

Ok DNRDustin, thanks for your help. I have all the files set exactly as you stated. As you stated I probably broke a link somewhere when I deleted the file... I do appreciate all your help and advise in this matter! I will just leave it as it is. Everything works fine, just no boot animation is all... Thanks Again!

P.S. You have to break a few eggs/phones, before you can, make an omelette/learn to fix them...
