hi

Is there ANY way that i can access files on my phone while it is in mass storage mode? I want to recover a file but need the device to pick up as a normal usb device. Any input will be appreciated so i can know if i should do it or stop trying

When you plug your phone into your PC you should get a USB symbol on your status bar. Pull down the status bar, tap on USB connected then tap on the Turn on the USB storage button. You'll be able to see whats on your phone and your card with your PC's file explorer. Copy and paste away.

There is no "USB mass storage" mode on the S3. There is only Photo Transfer Protocol (PTP) and Media Transfer Protocol (MTP).

These work fine with Windows (MTP being best) for copying and pasting. They don't work well with Linux or Mac.

If you NEED USB mass storage, with root, is an app called "Easy UMS" but still thi wont address issues on Mac or Linux.

OP, what device are you connecting to?
