Boot sound will not play on Ascend Plus/M881

I'm having some difficulty getting a boot sound to play on a rooted Huawei Ascend Plus (M881) that has been flashed to Page Plus from Tracfone. A bootSound.ogg file exists in the /system/media/audio/animationsounds/ directory, but it doesn't play during startup. (It isn't a "silent" file, either...it's a 3 second chime.) I have tried replacing it with one of my own, with no luck.

I have successfully changed the startup and shutdown animations, which are in a completely different directory (/cust/tracfone/us/media) that does not contain any audio files. I copied the .ogg file in there just in case, also with no luck.

Any thoughts? Are there any "properties" I can change anywhere that would enable the boot sound if it is disabled somehow? Thanks!

Same issue with at&t g2. I've never had this issue with any other phone. I was so happy after pulling the katniss whistle from hunger games and converting to ogg. When I was ready to apply, didn't work. Then I recalled I hadn't heard the stock for a while either. I also checked all carrier files and stock sound files, but couldn't find anything that should cause issue. Hope this gets fixed soon. Thanx in advance. I'll also post this to xda.
