Help Boot up times?

Hi
How are your boot up times? Here is my metric

1. start counting when the Samsung bootup music first starts. This is basicaly when the Big S symbol appears.

2. stop counting when CPU usage goes down to idle levels. I monitor using Seepu app.

For my startup programs I only have Seepu which actively starts up. Widgets include smart calendar, BBC news, battery monitor and Weather bug. THere could be others that boot up in the background but not sure (such as K9 mail, etc)

I tried 3 home screens: default TW, Zeam, Go Launcher EX.

All give me around the same boot up time, 1 minute 18 secs +/- 2 secs.

Media scanning is one culprit.

I recall with a new phone, it was around 40 seconds. How are your boot up times? Is this becoming similar to windows? Any suggestions to make is faster? Tried some apps but none seem to work

Mine takes over 5 min to start, Media scanning takes a very long time, I have a lot of pictures and music on the phone, I'm using Go Launcher EX.

When I do a factory reset for the phone and it starts up it takes less than a minute, but when I have all my widgets and my media on the device it starts taking longer to do a reboot.

I start counting when I push the button and finish when it has booted up.
about two minutes.

It was a weird way to count bootup time.
First you ignore all boot processing before the boot animation then you count things that happens after the boot and then you wait until the phone goes to idle.
This way you never get any data that you can compare with others.

Do it like this and you get a better way to compare to other phones.

Power off the phone.
Take time from you press the power button.
Take a middle time when you has booted up the phone and you can unlock or have some control, but just before you see Media start to scanning.
Take the stop time when you see media scanning is done.

With this you have a better way to compare.with others.

Of course boot up time depends of amount data in your internal and external memory...
For example media scanning when you have full memory can take even 1min or more..
Also sw version (open, T-Mobile,etc...) makes difference..
BTW do you switch on your phone every day? Is it such a difference when it takes either 40 sec or 2 min?
Try to imagine that Blackberry needs 3-5 min to power up

Sorry for ressurecting the topic, but my Galaxy is taking more than 40 minutes (no typo) to boot up!!! I have no idea what is going on!!

I don't have a lot of things installed... Basically only LauncherPro Plus, 3G Watchdog, Elixir and Trafic Counter Pro...

Well your system is bad. You need to reinstall the firmware and clean up the phone.
