My LG V20 keeps force closing apps and reboots randomly. Upon boot, I get a red triangle and get a message saying "your device is corrupt. It cannot be trudted. It may not work properly". I need help.

Factory Data reset. It's a boot option - wipes it clean totally and pushed the phone back to the way it came out of the box.

I have 2 questions before you do that.

1) do you have an additional memory card?
1a) did you format the card before putting it in the phone, or was it new in a package?
1b) if you do have a memory card did you happen to install it as expanded memory or standalone?

2) Did you reboot by pulling the battery out of the device? or just a power button, select restart?

OK so like 4 questions but 2 are conditional on an answer. sorry.

either way I'd check a few other things before a factory data reset personally. That's sort of the nuke it from orbit option.

None of my apps are on the SD card. I already factory reset once.

OK so you have separate storage locations - not one joined location?

Then pull the memory card out - reboot and see if you get a similar error? It might be a corrrupt or foreign file on the SD card.

I took out my SD card and reboot, didn't see the message. But I keep getting random force closes, I have a 64GB LG V20 and I have a lot of memory on it.

which app say it is force closing? just curious.

I would wipe the memory card and reformat it before putting it back in (fat 32 format)

and I would seriously consider doing a factory reset - but make sure you get your contacts and other personal stuff somewhere safe first.

uhm yes. Factory data reset - nukes the memory and the ROM storage on the mobile and resets it back to the way it was in the box. Which is empty. Now as long as all your contacts are maintained via your gmail or other account for synchronization - then they would come back as soon as you re-sync your account.

It will however also remove all Apps and all of the app data. so saved passwords, or notes whatever - all gone. If they are on your memory card - then they are there now - but I'd wipe the memory card before putting it back in the phone too. so save some of that off on your computer temporarily.

DID you wipe out your memory card? Format it?

or have you just left it out of the device so far.

Do the issues come up right after the factory reset - or does it happen after you sync contacts and start loading apps?

Do you get to a specific App before it acts up?

Otherwise just get a new mobile - I mean it's underwarranty still and probably within your 30 day return window

might still take it back or if nothing else - call LG and see if they will cross ship you one. Eitherway I'd use the warranty on that. And as bad as it is - LG needs to know about it.

I read on XDA, someone had a T-Mobile LG V20 and had the same "boot warning" I had.

any report on a fix though? I still think you either have corrupted data or a rogue app. but finding it might be difficult.

I would say at this point, unless you didn't buy the phone directly, then take it back or get it exchanged. I have that warning, but I'm also rooted. And that's the only time I know of instances of that happening, so unless you got a rooted V20 (which you would either know already, or you would've seen that same message from day one), I'd definitely have it replaced.

My phone hasn't been force closing apps in a few days, we'll see.

How did you root your v20? what carrier on you with?
