Root Bootanimation help please

Troytron

Newbie
Ok guys. I've tried to put this decepticon bootanimation for the past 2 1/2 days. I must be doing something wrong. I followed all of these steps from another forum.

Heres how you load it to your phone...

download this to your computer and unpack and install...Android SDK | Android Developers this is ABD

Once thats downloaded...

plug your phone in to your pc using the usb cable.

on your phone
go to your settings
go to applications
development
check the usb debugging box (it must have the green check in the box)

then swipe down the notification bar
click on the usb connected
click on mount

on your pc

download the zip on in this post...decepticon.zip

open the abd and go to the tools folder.
rename the zip to bootanimation.zip
copy the and paste the zip into your tools folder in the abd

click on start
run
then type cmd in in the box ( this will bring up a black box)

now this is where some people get lost....

Where ever you saved your ABD is its location... when ABD tools folder is open look at the the browser window and copy it. that is its location remember it make a cheat sheet of it cause if you messed p a step you can just refer back to it instead of hunting all over your computer for it.

example mine is C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Downloads\android-sdk-windows\tools

In the black bock type cd then the location of your tools folder..

example...cd C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Downloads\android-sdk-windows\tools...

Then hit enter

then type..

adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local

it may take a second, then it will show in the black box that it had downloaded x amount in x amount of sec.

Then you can unmount your phone

Turn off your phone
then restart it...

enjoy your new animation

I tried this like 35 times no exaggeration. I downloaded this zip file decepticon_1.03.zip . Im not going to give up until I have this bootanimation on my phone. If you guys can give me a little assistance or possibly point out what im doing wrong, or even just give new direction i'd REALLY appreciate it.

I believe this to be the easiest way to do any boot animation. Download this. http://androidforums.com/optimus-v-...3-1-ex-recoveryflasher-tons-new-features.html

Its ROMTools. Great program. Anyways, download it, open it and then press 7 (Push bootanimation.zip) Then follow the instructions on the screen. Make sure your phone is in debugging mode, and connected. It's that easy. I have used this program for different bootanimations. I am pretty sure you will have to rename decepticon.zip to bootanimation.zip

EDIT: Just tried it on my phone...worked perfectly.

Also in the Rom tools folder there will be a folder that says bootanimation. Rename decepticon.zip to bootanimation.zip and put it in the bootanimation folder. Then follow the screen for RomTools

Do you have a file manager with root permissions? If so, just rename the file to bootanimation.zip, set file system to r/w, and just copy and paste. Make sure you delete the old one first. I've been doing it this way for months on many different roms.

It did not work. I put my phone in debugging mode and made sure the usb was connected. I put the bootanimation.zip into the bootanimation folder. Pressed 7 to follow the steps. It said preparing sd card on my phone so I thought it was gonna work for sure. But I restarted my phone and it still didnt show... I dont know what im doing wrong?
