Well, I just heard from a friend(who's savy on all this Androican stuff) that HTC will be unlocking bootloaders(whatever these things are) on the shift next month.
He says that it'll be optional, and that unlocking the bootloaders will void your warranty.
Apparently it has something to do with rooting. Having the bootloaders unlocked makes it easier/possible/something like that.
I'll bug him for a link sometime later tonight; I just got him a copy of Indigo Prophecy, so I'm positive he'll be calling me later anyhow(if you've ever played the game, you'll know why. Both to discuss the mystery and scream at me for ever getting him the game xD)
So, for now, somebody mind explaining(preferably in few technical terms, so the novices such as myself don't start bashing our heads into the desk) exactly how this'll let us(Well, let those awesome guys over at XDA) root our phones? [I'm assuming this'll be the magic key to rooting with gingerbread]
