Root Bootloop after custom recovery

So I installed what was supposed to be a custom recovery for my device, but apparently (if id researched it a little more) it doesn't work and will brick your phone.
I'm stuck in the bootloop, I have the kdz and utilities to flash my firmware back but I cant get the phone in a state so the computer will see it.
Volume down plus power does nothing
both volume up/down plus power does nothing

So far everything I do it just boots as normal than loops at the android animation.

May i ask which custom ROM you tried to flash?

Try holding both vol up & down while holding the power too.
I've gotten to emode by just holding one of the vol buttons and power.
make SURE you pull the battery before trying this.
This should start d/l mode,

When you are unbricked READ THIS:

It works for everyone else, so it should work for you also.

Edit: this helps sometimes;

All right I got it.
The problem was doing the volume and power didnt seem to be getting me into emergency mode,
apparently it was, but the graphic just wasnt showing so it looked like a black screen.

I'll check out that 2nd init mod, I was under the impression that I needed a custom recovery installed first, and that the mod was just to set up a widget or something to let you one-click into recovery mode.
------
As far as custom roms I hadn't decided on one for sure yet (not that there are many available) Bella 2 was looking promising in the collab thread.
Are there any out yet with Jelly Bean, or Cyanomod that have full functionality?
------------
Anyway, thanks for the help, I've been playing with it and bricking it constantly since I got the phone last week, it's my first smartphone and I love it.

Also thanks for the hard-reset info there, I hadn't run across that yet and I'm sure it will come in handy.

AAAGGH. Following the 2nd init mod directions reminded me of another problem!

Using the app and hitting boot to recovery just factory resets my phone. Every time I try to follow someone's mod or tweak guide that has me use an app to get to recovery mode I just get factory reset and lose all my apps and data again.
--------
Must have been caused by something I had modified earlier.
Wiped everything and started over from scratch.
2nd init app works properly and booted me to recovery!
Following the rest of the directions now, but it should be all right.
I think messing with other methods of trying to get a custom recovery had altered something and was giving me grief.
