Help Bootlooped Galaxy Ace S5830

I've messed up my phone after trying to root/ROM it and as far as I can work out, I need to use ODIN to fix it.

Is there a specific ODIN version that I need for this phone or should I use the latest version?

Odin 1.85 should work fine

I have v3.07. Will that be ok or should I specifically go back to 1.85?

Give v3.07 a try; it worked fine with my Galaxy S2 even though v1.85 was the 'official' version for that handset.

Btw, I'll move this topic to the Galaxy Ace (All Things Root) section later so that other Ace owners can offer further support should you need it.

which suggested using v4.38 and my phone's still in a boot loop.

Does anyone have any more suggestions that I could try?

Oh, wait. It's fixed!!!

I did another factory reset after carrying out the guide and it seems to be booting now.
