Root Boots to bootloader when you plug into pc, but not to AC adapter

Trouble with my dinosaur...

Power button is broken, so this is a bit more of an issue than it should be as I have to plug the phone into something to get it to turn on.

Problem is, if I plug it into a computer (tried a chromebook and various windows machines) it boots to bootloader which is useless for me.

If I plug it in via AC adapter it boots normally.

Short of always carrying an AC adapter with me, or chopping the data wires on a usb cable and having to carry THAT with me, how can I fix this?

I am rooted and running an unknown custom rom. I have a fairly recent CWM recovery installed.

Thanks.

I have looked into this, but this is all software remapping and does not do anything to fix the issue:

"Note that even when using Button Remapper to remap the hardware buttons, the remapping will not take effect when the phone is off (or you are booted into recovery mode). If your power button doesn't work, you will still have to use a workaround like plugging your phone into a charger in order to get the phone to power on from a shutdown state."

I dont have a problem plugging it in to turn it on, if I could just fix this damn booting to bootloader thing. I am thinking I may just have to mod a usb cable by cutting the data wires, but it would be nice to be able to have the software work as it should.

Sorry I am so late here, but it might have more to do with the data wires, it could be the lower power that a usb port provides over the wall charger that also causes your issue.

good luck
