Root Bootstrap Issues

Newbie
I put my phone into "bootstrap recovery" then "reboot recovery"

When my phone resets it does not go into recovery mode where I can select the zip or wipe cache/data. Instead the screen just stays blank with backlight on. to reiterate, the screen is black, but brightness is on.

How do I fix this so I can install a rom?

Thanks

If you have Droid X bootstrap installed remove it and install Droid 2 bootstrap. It's pretty much "plugnplay". No need to always check/uncheck usb debugging.

I've tried to restore a previous saved, it began just fine but after an hour it got hung up and hasn't moved since. Even the animated progress bar at the bottom of the screen has stopped moving. It's been like this for the past hour and half. Does it usually take this long to restore or is something wrong? How do I fix it?
