Help Bottom Icons Off Center?

tabber951

Newbie
On my Galaxy Tab 2 7 inch there are 3 "icons" at the bottom for the home page and two extras pages. These are all I need for my apps. In portrait mode the home screen icon is shown centered with the 2 other icons shown equally on either side.

In landscape mode all 3 icons/pages are shown off center. This "eyesore" only started a few weeks ago when I tried to use a different wallpaper. When I noticed the problem I switched back to stock wallpaper, but the icons are still off center in landscape.

For many people this would be trivial, but it is making me nuts. I have learned so much over the years (more than most users) by digging into operating systems to solve such small problems. Any ideas on how to solve this one?

After more than two months and for no apparent reason, the off-center icons this evening finally moved into the proper center position.

I did nothing special, they simply moved to where they should be.

Stop the Presses!!!!!! No joke, I looked again just now while typing this post and they moved back to the off-center position.

Has this happened to anyone else????????

Only other suggestion I can think of is to take all the icons off and then re-add back, and cross fingers. If somebody knows the system app behind it, you could clear the cache for it

Maybe I don't understand what you meant. The off center icons are not from the apps. They icons at the very bottom of the screen for the home page and 2 extra pages are the ones that are not centered in landscape mode.

Can they be removed?

As I originally said this is really a trivial bug, but being anal makes it seem much worse. :(

I don't remember what they're called. Quick apps? I was mixing it up with the mini apps. I'll try and find in a manual. Or maybe you can post a screen capture. I'm probably confused.

Here are 2 screen shots. The icons at the bottom for the 2 pages are not centered over the "Home" key.

I appreciate your help.

Looked up owner's manual and Samsung calls the bottom row the Apps screen.
Anyway, I checked mine (4.1.1) and it's the same as yours. The reason is probably because in landscape the shortcuts on the Apps screen is now on the right so that affects the centering of the rest of the screen. So the spacing must be calculated on the combined space of the width of the home screen and the Apps screen not just the home screen. In portrait, the apps screen doesn't affect the available width of the home screen. Just a guess. Hope that makes sense.
