Help Bottom icons

I have a GSII, but my friend has a Spectrum. I am generally pretty good with Android but can't figure out how to replace the bottom icons with other apps on an LG. When an update the Play Store replaced his contacts on the bottom. How do you change those?

The default launcher that comes with the Spectrum is lacking a lot of things and I believe this was one of them as well. You're best bet is to grab a copy of ADW or GoEX if you want to customize the home screen at all. Bear in mind thou, that at this point, all the system widgets (power controls, their social widget, etc.) are locked down to only be useable on the stock launcher and you'll have to install different ones to use on any other launcher.

In order to replace one of the 4 default icons, go to your Apps, hold down an icon and drag it to one of your 4 spots instead of dragging it to a spot in one of your 7 panels. The icon you replace will glow blue while hovering.

If you want 3, 2, or only 1 icon in the 4 panel thingy; go to your apps; hit the left "square in square" button at the bottom; hit "Manage apps"; then press, hold, and drag/drop it anywhere up out of the box.

If there is proper nomenclature for all of these procedures, please correct me. I'm new (6 days) to this Android thing.

Thanks! I knew there had to be a way. Ill let my friend know when I see him next. On my Samsung its pretty tricky as well. Seems like a simple long press of the icon to change makes more sense to me.
