Root Bought new phone, need it unrooted!

Ok, just to set up the scenario... I am here because I cannot figure out where on earth to post in the xda forums to get my 10 initial posts so that i can post anywhere else... thus i cannot make ANY posts (annoying).

Ok, so... I just bought a new (used) htc g2 (desire z) off of craigslist. I have owned one for a over a year now and love the phone. My mother was looking for a phone and to get on a family plan so I went on craigslist and picked up the same phone for her. Looks/works great when i check it out, the only thing is that the guy before had rooted/put cyanogenmod7 on the phone. My mom will use this thing for calls, texts, and the occasional email check. She has no interest in anything else so having it rooted and rommed are not necessary. Other than that, i'm having trouble setting things up because of the mod. I cant connect to my wifi network, it shows 3g instead of 4g network, etc etc. basically, before I give this phone to her, i would like to restore it to OEM.

I've never rooted or modded before so when I first got the phone I just did a restore to factory reset on it... whelp, that didnt work. it was still rooted with cyanogenmod7. After, the phone was saying that it couldnt detect my microsd card (8gb). So i was like "ok, ill reformat it like the phone asks, maybe that will fix things". Nope, it cant reformat the card (or did and accomplished nothing?) and still cant find the card.

So i need to know, for someone who does not know how to root or mod or change roms or whatever it is you have to do... how on earth can i get this thing back to factory android 2.3? its extremely frustrating.

I assume the first thing I'm going to have to do is get the sd card working again... but i dont know how at the moment as its not reading it... and then after that i really have no clue at all.

Any and ALL help is appreciated. thanks!

UPDATE: I had an extra 8gb microsd card lying around actually so I just popped that into the phone and its reading it fine... still have no clue how to unroot/unmod the phone however though

im pretty sure that if you put the OTA 2.3.4 gingerbread on the SD and flash that it will go back to stock unrooted (or u can flash it with clock work mod)

Download the 2.3.4 update for the G2 https://rapidshare.com/files/3796067356/PC10IMG.zip.
Once downloaded, place it on the root of your SD card (not in any folders).
DO NOT rename it. Its name should be “PC10IMG” with .zip being the extension. (if its not then rename it PC10IMG.ZIP)
Turn off your phone and boot into bootloader (press and hold the power button and volume down at the same time).
Once the bootloader is up you should see the “PC10IMG” being scanned.
Wait for the phone to finish scanning the file. If done correctly the phone will ask if you want to update.
Press volume up to confirm. The update process should begin after that.
Give it a few minutes and make sure you don’t have a low battery. Shutting the phone down or pulling out the battery during an update process can potentially brick it.
Once the update has been successfully installed, the phone will ask to press the power button to reboot.
The phone will reboot and you have a freshly baked 2.3.4 Gingerbread update!

if that doesnt work then stilll download the file and put it on the root of your sd card.
then flash into bootloader
click recovery
let it boot into clockwork mod.
then go to backup and restore
make a back up of your rom (incase things go south you can restore)
then go back to the main menu in CWM
choose install zip from sd (not update)
then choose the PC10IMG.zip
choose yes
let it do its thing
and then you should be done and running the OTA GB
