Brand new GS2 owner

Hello all. I am a proud owner of the AT&T version of the GS2. Picked it up from Radio Shack this afternoon. And having traded in my wonderful Inspire 4g, along with a spare phone I found in a drawer in my living room, I actually paid only $30 for the GS2. (Love that RS trade-in policy).

Have been messing around with this device all day today, and I must say, notwithstanding the now well known glitch concerning the pattern-lockscreen feature, this device is, IMHO, everything it's advertised to be. Even the current version of 'touchwiz' seems an actual enhancement.

Looking forward to joining the discussions here on this board, and it's a pleasure to be here.

ordered mine thru teh AT&T store near my house..was told none of teh AT&T stores in my area had any SGH-I777's (model# for Samsung Galaxy SII) in stock..teh guy told me would be 3-4 weeks til i will receive my shipment..how lame is that..you'd think they would stock all their stores with teh new Samsung Galaxy SII's for teh OCT 2nd release date..but wahtever..

anyway..can't wait to check this badboy out..kinda wish they would have went wit teh 4.5" screen but atleast this way should be able to order an OtterBox or some other case alot easier since they are the same size as the original GS2's rather than waiting for them to make a 4.5" version of them..

this phone should hold up pretty well against most of teh phones coming out until i am eligible for my next upgrade and has every single thing i wanted on my phone that my Captivate didnt have..pretty much teh perfect smartphone!!!

hurry up mailman ;P
 
I was actually pretty fortunate. The Radio Shack that I got mine from, was only sent 2 units. I got the first, and the other sold about an hour after that.:)
 
I went and got mine at an ATT corporate store. They had TONS in stock....so much so they actually had TWO display units, found that funny.

Anyways, LOVING, it, and now of course, TWEAKING IT!

And ordered a nice screen protecter and case, should get in about 3 days.

I just got mine today from Best buy. Which case did you order? There doesn't seem to be that many available yet. Will cases for the international model work?
 
Congrats on your GS2!

I got mine on my birthday :) I should only get a cheaper Samsung but since I am an A+ student my parents decided I deserve it.

I ordered this one:

And it specifically says for AT&T, so i said, cool, should work. Though anything gel/rubber for international would fit, their basically the same phones. Now T-Mobile and Sprint on the other hand....

I just ordered it. Also, for anyone interested in a screen protector, Zagg and Bodyguardz both have one for the at&t model now.

I got this case:

Genuine Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100 Mesh Vent Case - Black

Doesn't add much to the overall thickness. Only problem I have with it is it's a dust magnet due to the vents.. when I take the case off the back of my phone is covered in the stuff :P Pretty happy with it and it's not expensive.

I don't bother with a screen protector.. gorilla glass is tough, don't see the need for one.
 
called Case-Mate this morning and was told that none of their cases for teh canadian or international versions of teh Samsung Galaxy SII shown on their website are made for teh AT&T version..was told that teh only Case-Mate case for teh AT&T Samsung Galaxy SII is called teh Case-Mate "Pop Case" only sold on the AT&T website

wasnt willing to risk buying another GS2 version case just incase it didnt fit right so had to "Pop" (pun intended) $35 for this Case-Mate "Pop Case"..looks like a good case tho..dual layer with a gel inner layer and hard rubberized plastic outer layer..so yeh..i had seen somewhere that teh dimensions of the I-9100 and SGH-I777 were slightly different so made teh call before ordering..maybe its just hype but just wanted to be sure
