Brand new to android.. apps?

Jumped ship and got the s9 note and now I'm curious what are some good apps that you get right away and what apps you uninstall right away.

I disabled the lookout antivirus and tried to get rid of as much bloatware that comes with Samsung's and sprint as possible.

What are good apps depends on what you use the phone for. Some of my essentials would be useless to many people, and other people's essentials irrelevant to me.

So what types of app are you interested in?
 
Agreed but some apps I may not know I need until someone throws it out as one of their mains.

I use my phone for games. Browsing. Side business time keeping and documents. Streaming. Staying in contact with people around the world.

I need to find uses for the s pen. So far I took a picture with it just to see if it works.

I disabled antivirus. Is there a kind of disk cleanup app that i should be running?

I plan on maxing out storage with an SD card. Anything I should about that? Any apps help with managing that?
 
Things you should know about sd:

* Be careful where you buy from. There are a lot of "fake" cards out there, small cards hacked to report a higher capacity than they have to the phone and then sold as big cards. The phone thinks the card has more space than it really has and so doesn't realise that the card is full and it is overwriting the data that are already on there.

So don't buy from anywhere where you can't reliably take it back, and under no circumstances buy SD cards from eBay or some Chinese online market. If a deal seems too good to be true it is 100% because it's a scam. And remember that 1TB microsd cards do not exist in reality (so anyone selling those is also a scammer).

* Android intends SD to be used for media storage. Don't bother moving apps there, it's really not worth it on a Note (or anything that isn't desperately short of space), just use it for media.

* Do not assume that data are safe because they are on SD. Sure, if the phone breaks you can take the card out, but if the phone is lost or the card fails (it does happen) you lose the data. So if it's important, make sure you have a backup that isn't on the phone.

No worries they are cheap enough these days I'll grab one off Amazon. And yes I'll be regularly backing it up to the home server and that is the main reason I want one for easier backups.

Looking at the sandisk ultra 400gb card at the moment

If you are sending messages via MMS, they are constrained by the MMS standard.. textra can't work around that.
 
I sure hope your family is not like my family LOL. They (all but one) can't get the whole WhatsApp thing down when sending videos, the Android contingency has explained time and time again to just use WhatsApp. Umm, yeah. NO the iPhoners just can't seem to get the hang of that. Oh and, good luck asking them to use a different video chat because all they can figure out is Facetime and then complain they can't video w/us. It almost seems like I don't like Apple, doesn't it? :D

Thats Apple for you.. they develop their own proprietary protocol, and won't let anyone else use it :(

Textra lets you set your own size limit, but your service provider will have a maximum size they will send, and no app can send MMS larger than that.

Any internet messaging app will require the other party to use the same app. This is also true of Apple's iMessage: its advanced features are only available when sending via Apple's servers to another iDevice, otherwise it has the same network limits for MMS. So the best app is the one the people you want to send to have, or can be persuaded to install. Otherwise there's not so much difference, but it may be easier to persuade them to install something widespread that they've heard of, such as WhatsApp, than something more niche like Signal.
