Brand New To Android

The only two smartphones I've ever used are the iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 4. For various reasons I've decided to go with the Samsung Galaxy S3 (the iPhone 5 release did NOT impress primarily).

Anyway, I just bought my phone yesterday and there is a significant learning curve for this phone compared to the iPhone. I realize that this also means that the phone can provide much more power/capability.

From what I've read I will need to root the phone to unlock all the features that I desire. Considering that I'm "somewhat" tech-savvy but have no experience with this process, can someone point me to some resources where I can learn about this? I know it provides admin privileges to your phone which can be beneficial and dangerous. I am on AT&T and I've noticed there may be different procedures depending on which cell phone provider you are with.

Also, coming from the iPhone I've definitely experienced some frustration with using this phone. But I am willing to learn and will spend my time here. Thanks for reading!

Hi Kosmic, and welcome to AF :)

The first place to visit would be the Galaxy S3 forum. There are subforums there called "All Things Root" for the different versions, which is where you will find information about rooting. Though as many people will tell you , an unrooted android can already do most things you need to jailbreak an iPhone to do. The S3 forum, and our general android discussion areas, would also be places where we can help with your frustrations :)

Enjoy your stay, and if there's anything you need, just ask.
