Breaking news: Shots fired on Capitol Hill

Republicans have tried to negotiate

Err .. no. The Republicans threw their toys out of the pram because they were beaten in every arm of government over Affordable Health Care.

They need to stop trying to hold the country to ransom to get a law they don't like changed. The law was passed. It was tested in court. The GOP made it a major issue in the presidential election and got creamed - the country didn't so much speak as scream in their face.

They need to grow up, stop acting like a spoilt 5 year old denied a piece of candy, accept that they lost and stop trying to destroy the country.

Bullets actually have a tremendously low potential to blow moving tires. The tires rotation makes it very hard.

I did not know that - very interesting.

In the case of the Washington shooting, I would have thought that firing rounds that can travel half a mile and still kill in a densely populated area would be reason enough not to shoot at tyres, though ;)

Engine blocks are thick, heavy steel or aluminium, depending on your car .. Bullet penetration from small guns may be low-to-nonexistant.

That I did know. Hence the Barrat .50 cal sniper rifle which I read somewhere (Jarhead, maybe?) was only supposed to be used as an anti-vehicle weapon in the first Gulf War as it was assumed use against personnel was banned by the Geneva Convention. Don't think that applies anymore

Body armor qualifies as equipment, that's the way around the Geneva convention. There were other ways to non lethally stop the car.

They are now raising question "Was lethal force necessary?" I think it's good that they do, and I don't think it was necessary.
