Bricked(?) Android Device

I'm actually unsure what android device this is all I ever get to see is MID then after that screen it's just blank and flashes. I've held the m button with power and I can't do anything in there and I don't know how to find out more information on this tablet. Does anyone have any ideas? Help would be greatly appreciated if you know where to find anything as there's no stickers and I've not really used a tablet before I'm just trying to figure this out with some common sense and what I do know and that's just not working :P I looked up MID and I don't seem to find anything super helpful or anyone to maybe contact this can help me identify this tablet. Let me know what you guys think.
 
A few questions:

1) Did it come from Shenzhen, China?
2) Did it cost less than $120 USD?

You maybe able to find some identifying information in the "about device" menu.
 
I have no access what so ever to the device other then when it loads it's MID and then when it's done loading all it does is stay blank and flash once in a while really quickly like it works for a fraction of a second. I can no problem access the update screen holding the M button while I press the power button. That's all I have I know nothing about the cost and where it came from and no one knows the history of this tablet assume no prior knowledge please. There is no box anymore it was given to my friend by his dad to fix cause he tried to root it and failed miserably and his son couldn't fix it and gave it to me to fix. I have what I was given and asked for and I did ask for any information on the tablet and even his dad has no idea so all I have is the tablet that'
s it and I can't access the OS directly.
 
A few photos showing the buttons, plastic, screen etc. may elicit a response such as 'I have one that looks exactly like that".

The thing is, they often all look the same; but it couldn't hurt! :-)
