Root Bricked

jhawkkw

Chinchillin'
So I'm pretty sure I bricked this device. Tried flashing to EE4, and now nothing happens. Can't even put it back into download mode to try something else. Nothing but black screen.

I've got a 5 step plan to having a working and rooted phone:

1. Go to Verizon store and explain to them that the ota update did something to your phone and you are mad as hell!

2. Get new Droid Charge (you may want to take out memory card if you have everything backed up with titanium)

3. Use the stock ROM for 2 days (you're on rooting restriction for doing the almost impossible brick)

4. Go to Droid Charge Android Development - xda-developers and decide which ROM you like the best (not the one that bricked your phone. I suggest Humble 5.0)

4.1. Use titanium to restore apps (not settings)

5. Enjoy new shiny, working, rooted Droid Charge

Sometimes you have to force the phone into Download Mode. Try this...

Take the battery and SIM card out of the phone. Now while holding the "Down" volume rocker, plug your phone into the computer (with Odin open) and keep holding it until a little yellow triangle pops up on your phones screen AND you see Odin recognize the device. Once you see both of those things you can release the down volume button.

And I assume that, since when I do these things my screen remains black, I have ruined my phone irreparably.

Beware, everyone. You can do everything completely by the book and still waste $700 by completely demolishing your smartphone.

Never again.

Sorry to hear this, and hope its not the case. I've seen these guys around here advise people and fix everything.

What is the status now?

Ended up buying a used phone from a Craigslist person for about $175. It's worked out fine, but I won't root this phone again.
