Well, it finally happened.

This thing has been temperamental since the ICS update. Now it's finally made itself useless.

While I was browsing in Chrome the other day, the screen went dark and now I can't revive it. I tried holding in the power button to reboot, I tried pushing the reset button with a paperclip, I tried power/volume down and power/volume down. Nothing.

I know something is going on in there because the power button lights when I plug in the charger, but I can't the f------ tablet to respond.

Before I throw the damn thing at a wall, does anyone have advice?

ETA: This is an unrooted device, stock 4.0.

Thanks.

Hello Kid Twist. Sorry to see you're having that very serious issue with your device.

I'm wondering what site and with what Chrome addons you were browsing when the compost hit the fan. Sometimes a lock-up can happen via maleware through java, flash and javascript.

But, having said that, have you attempted to remedy the situation by the old tried and true shut down > removal of SIM card > removal of sd card > removal of battery > wait a full minute > replace all three components > power up normally.

Many a500s have been rescued with this method (be sure your battery is fully charged), follow this (success sometimes comes in the 2nd or 3rd try):

Acer Iconia a500 Hard Reset Restore - YouTube

I had several tabs open to classical music blogs that I was checking out. No idea which one, if any, was the culprit.

Tried pulling the battery and SD card (no SIM -- it's wifi only). No luck. I think I broke the SD card, too. May try a second time later. Running out of patience.

But thank you very much for trying to help.
