Broken LCD, how to access phone storage

Well, the LCD on my daughter's Stratosphere broke again, and again with no damage to the outer glass and with a minimal drop to a hard surface. Very disappointed with the quality of this LCD.

Anyway, the phone will still power up and the touch screen seems to work (no reason it shouldn't) and I'd like to see about getting any data off the internal storage. I've plugged it into my Win7 PC and it's recognized and Windows installs all the drivers. I was hoping that the internal memory would show up as a drive letter, but it doesn't.

I suspect it's in 'Charge only' mode, but I'm not sure how I'd get it out of that to make it operate like a disk drive.

Maybe if someone can describe the process, from the home screen, to put the phone in 'disk drive' mode once plugged in (with screen shots would be great), maybe I can manage to hit the right buttons. :D

Any other ideas?

my strat saves everything to the microSD card, why not just take that out and stick it into the computer to get the data off it? adapters for it are not expensive ($10 max)

That's exactly what we realized last night. She had her SD card in the old NV she's using for now and it didn't see any of her pictures so she assumed they weren't there. I should have known better, the NV only looks in the 'my pix' folder, no place else.

Started digging through the folders and found 'em, over 1,000 I think.

I tried poking at the screen and even tried the Samsung Kies program for syncing data, but even it wouldn't access the phone if it was in the wrong mode. No matter now, whatever's still there is lost.

Hey aren't you on saturnoutlookforum.net? Small world. I'm sure there are programs on the internet that will allow you to gain all of the information from the phone, even if its stuff not on the SD other than windows explorer or whatever. Try bringing it into Verizon.

But to change the USB mode to mass storage: home screen with slider out>menu>right arrow 6 times>enter>down arrow 10 times>enter>down arrow 1 time>enter>enter

That should put it into mass storage mode.
