I recently broke the screen to my note 4, and I need to recover the saved photos etc from the phone storage but when plugged up to my laptop it can't access the files, since it's locked with my finger print. Any ideas? The phone powers up and everything but the screen just stays black.

Sounds like a trip is required to a reputable phone repair center that can replace your screen without wiping data. Sorry you broke the screen... but that's the solution I'm thinking. Good luck.

Hi Mike,
I would try to unlock the phone using the Android device manager. This allows you to reset your screen lock "token". I used it to reset the a co-workers phone when s/he forgot the backup password after fumbling the fingerprint unlock a too many times..

If the data is in your sd card you can use a card reader to copy the data from the sd card to your pc or another phone. If the data is in your phone storage and you can't read the data by connecting to your computer you'd better to replace your Samsung note 4 screen with a new one.
