Help Broken phone and cannot retrieve documents

[Android Question]

I broke the LCD screen on my phone so I cannot use the screen anymore, but the phone still powers on fine etc. But when I plug it in to access my internal storage, it will not pop up on my PC because I need to enter my passcode on the phone to unlock the device. Is there anyway to access these files alternatively so I do not have to pay to get my screen on the device fixed opposed to just getting a completely new device?

Depends on if usb debugging was enabled or not.... If it is then i know of a exe file that allows you to swipe the screen, type password etc. if not then not sure.
