Broken Samsung Galaxy S6 help please

Mrs D

Lurker
I am selling a broken Samsung Galaxy S6 on Ebay for parts but wanted to know if my details would still be on there if the buyer repairs it? The phone stopped working one day and there was a white flash across the screen then it went black. I cannot do the start key, volume up/down repair as nothing happens. The only light on the top is when the phone is charging. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

It is very hard to answer based on very limited information. But unless the storage chip died catastrophically then I would guess that your data are on there still. Of course it may be that the motherboard is sufficiently dead that all they do is throw that away, but it's impossible to say at this remove (it's not completely dead if the charging light comes on).

Are you certain it's not just the display that's dead?

Thank you for the reply. I am unsure if it is only the display not being technically minded! There is a black screen and the phone will not turn on is all I can tell you ;)

If the charging light comes on, the motherboard is NOT completely dead. Based on the info provided in the thread, It sounds like an issue with the display/connector for the display. Here are my questions for troubleshooting this problem.

1) Can you press the volume buttons and hear a "beep" sound from it?
2) Does it vibrate at all?
3) Does it heat up at all?
4) What color is the LED light when it's charging.
5) Can your computer detect it, if it can, can you access the internal storage/sdcard?

If you answered yes to questions 1, 2, and 5, then you simply might need to replace the display.

Cheers!
