Hello guys.
The thing is my girl got her tablet trashed by her sister and its pretty much beyond repair.
Screen is cracked, micro usb plug is just an empty hole now and it was full of gooey dryed up soda. It still starts up. So i though of turning what i can save from it into a emulator station kind of a homebrew poor mans ouya. It can handle the basic, maybe even n64 and psx. Its a dual core 1.2 8" pile of sh*t but still...

Its an ezee tab785d11-m storex btw.

So i have the emulator and rom part covered, the tablet has working hdmi. Im taking out the main board and throwing it into a nice console like case. Now what i need is some way of making the picking of the emulator and the rom doable from an intuitive perspective using a bt ps3 remote. Preferably booting with the iso.

Hopefully with a cpu cooler, some tune up and overclocking the sh*t out of it it might run at decent fps.

Anyway i need sugestions, critics, links, everything i can put my hands on for inspiration. And dont mind my english.

Sounds pretty neat. I'm curious, if the usb is bad, then how are you going to hook up a controller?

Personally, I might try to install Debian linux and repurpose the device as a home server of some type. But that's just me. haha

Let us know how your progress goes.

Actually its easier than it looks like. I though of using a dualshock 3 for the effect (with the possibility of pairing a second controller anytime).

On android for bluetooth pairing with the dualshock you use the app "sixaxis".
There you can pair with a plugged controller.

But then theres "sixaxis pair tool" for windows, which lets you manually overide the mac address present in the controller and just put the devices bluetooth mac.

I found about that a few years ago with my 1st gen nexus 7 while waiting for my micro-to-usb dongle to get here.

Well you are absolutely right. The main purpose is retro gaming but still i want it as media server, chromecasting, skyping, etc from/to the TV. Its pretty neat for a 100$ broken tablet hun?

I just started drawing the case for it on autocad. Blue/green/black semi-opaque acrylic plate.

Next step is the UI. Custom rom maybe. Making the dualshock the main control for the system besides remote access via cellphone/pc/tablet.

Still a long way to go, but im glad for your support :)
