BS Player > MX Video Player

I have extolled the virtues of MX Player for its ability to stream mkv videos from network shares and far ranging codec support. But I was a little disappointed that it would hiccup occasionally during playback from the external SD card, and the video looked a bit washed out. It worked much better on my Galaxy Tab and Epic Touch than on the Prime.

Looking for an alternative, I tried out BS Player and found it to be superior to MX Video Player for playback, having smooth, hiccup free video even off of the SD card, with better color. The interface isn't as good if for no other reason than the lack of a library view. For the Prime, having some videos on the SD card and some on internal requires you to browse back and forth between folders.

Still, I'm going all in with BS Player because of the smoother playback. The free version has ads, but I hardly even notice them.

try dice player.

Works great.

Just wish I could buy the non add version but google have suspended the developers checkout account with no worning and won't get back to the developer apparently.

It's the lite version of BS Player.

I've heard of Dice Player's reputation, but the only version you can get is limited to a trial version. So it's not a real option anyway.

Both BS and MX Player do hardware decoding like Dice Player.

Actually you can now get a full version with adds for free, as well as the trial version.

Sure you will be ably to buy the full addless version soon as well once they start selling on a different app store.

BS Player seems to have better video quality, and both BS and MX Video Player perform better with network streaming.

I will have to reverse course and go with Dice Player Lite. The reason is the way Dice Player can recognize and switch immediately between the internal and external SD cards gives it the edge. BS Player is slow to recognize new files on the external card.

I tried MX player but found it stays in memory consuming precious ram when not active. Bsplayer does not have any processes running when not active.

I've used four other video players, can't remember what they were right now. Any way the only one I have kept is the BS Player
