Help BSOD fun

I am having issues with my phone freezing and having issues rebooting it. It is a Droid Razr that was bought last August. It has been freezing every so often since about a week ago, and I am having to do the power button + volume down button power off to have it unfreeze. When I try to turn it back on, it is very stubborn. I have tried doing the usual fixes, but the screen remains black and the only response is a brief pulse from the vibrate function, usually in response to the power button being pressed. I have gotten it to turn back on from this state once before, but that was done by mostly button mashing. I am hoping that this is a thing, and one that is fixable. There is a charge on the phone.

Welcome to Android Forums.

I assume you did the upgrade to Jelly Bean in March. Is that correct? If you are unsure you can go to Settings | About phone and read the Android version. Is it 4.1.2?

If you did do the upgrade, did you do a Factory Data Reset after upgrading?

Thank you for the welcome. I have not done anything fancy with the phone (I have not rooted it), and unfortunately have not been paying much attention to my version numbers. If the baseband update wuld be something the phone would do for itself, than yes, I have done it. If not, then it would be the same as what it was upon purchasing it. And I have not done a factory reset either.

If you power on ... immediately power off. A menu will appear with a Power off option. Long press on it and if you are on Jelly Bean it will ask if you want to reboot into Safe mode. Respond OK.

This will load the system with all apps you installed disabled and not uninstalled. If the problem goes away you know it is caused by an app you installed. If it doesn't you have to go further.

I assume you are not root-ed ... correct?

How about the factory reset and see if it needs a update . Cause you say you cant power on . See if you can charger and perform a factory reset. The phone is like a person it needs a cleaning.

I dont know the power button combo but it should be almost like the and power what razor you have the i. Try this

In the unlikely event that your device becomes unresponsive, frozen, blank or black screen, or will not respond to the power button, you can perform a force restart or reboot on the device. Please follow the steps below:

Press and hold the Power button and Volume down button for 20 seconds, the device will restart and go through the boot-up sequence.

Note: The forced restart or reboot will not delete any Data on your phone. If your device is running the latest software Android 4.x and it is powered on, pressing and holding the Power Button and Volume Down button will take a screen picture of the display, you may hear a shutter sound if this happens. Even if you hear the shutter sound and the phone takes a screen shot still continue to hold the Power Button and Volume Down until the phone shuts down.

I dont know the power button combo but it should be almost like the voldown/up and power what razor you have the i

It is power button, with volume up and down together. And pressing and releasing the up volume button if that is giving issue. The only response I am getting is a brief buzz from the phone. I am trying to find the pattern of when it does it, but it seems to be pretty moody about when it does and doesn't do it. Sometimes it buzzes when I plug in the power cord (which is the original one that came with it). It likes doing it within 2 second, 5 second an sometimes greater intervals (I think ten seconds). And the number of buzzes per holding down the power button varies. Sometimes it is only only. Sometimes it is around 5 or more. If I can't button mash a solution, I will have more extensively recorded results.

Nahhhhh hold for 20 seconds or til it reboots . It may take a few times dont think it will work first shot . You want to hold the volume down and the power button for 20sec or til it reboots .

Now is this twenty exact seconds, and then release the buttons? Or "at least" twenty seconds. And should I hold down the power button a certain amount of time before applying the volume down button? If there is some exact time amount for each bit that is guaranteed to succeed, that would be great. And it is the Power button + up and down that produces the most buzzes, with buzzes beginning about 18 seconds after, and grouping in threes to fours with about 5-10 seconds in between each group.

No its the vol down + power button at the same time for 20 sec or til it reboots .then release it as you feel it reboot .

Can i ask what combo are you doing and when you feel it vibrate do u release the combo when u feel ot vibrate

It shifts between which combo it Likes vibrating the most on. It was liking doing it with Power button + Up and down volume. And Now it is liking to do it when Pressing Pwer + down volume. Sometimes it buzzes with just the power button down, usually starting with a buzz upon first pressing it, and sometimes a few times after. It also buzzed with out holding the buttons once after I held down the buttons for over a minute. It also buzzes every few times when plugging my phone into the power adapter.

Can i ask is the phone power off when you tried this combo. The Volume down + power button . If not off turn the phone off even if you have to pull the battery . .. now do the combo volume down + power button for 20 seconds or til it buzzes or boot up and then remove your combo when you first feel it vibrate

O ok you never continued the combo key as it said you will hear it take a picture hold down the combo til it power off the phone . Your phone sound may be turned off but read the note after the combo

I did release the buttons after it buzzed. And I cannot take out the battery on my phone without doing some work with it, as the battery is not technically removable in the Droid Razr, if you were telling me to do that. Is there anyone else reading this forum who has some input. Please?

Are you under warranty or extended warranty if so you will need to take it in something is wrong with your device . Post back with the results .
