Help BT tethering rather poor--wondering if official Sprint version would be better

I briefly tried tethering my Asus tablet via BT using the PdaNet Tablet + FoxFi combination. It worked, but only barely. The connection was slow and dropped a couple of times, and only the stock browser worked -- Firefox would not connect.

If I were to purchase the Sprint Mobile Hotspot add-on would BT tethering be likely to work better?

I don't care whether the tablet and phone communicate via BT or WiFi, as long as it works well. Is the Sprint tethering reasonably fast and reliable?

I tested tethering via WiFi today (used FoxFi on the phone; I don't think PDAnet was needed on the tablet). It worked okay (better than BT DUN) but seemed slow. If the Sprint offering isn't any better then it's not worth the money.

For what it is worth, I have a friend that uses the Sprint hot spot for their home internet. They say it works great for them. They can't get any other reliable internet at their home. He uses his EVO to broad cast to their computers.
