BT tething to iPhone 4s using MiWi?

I have an iPhone 4s on Verizon and a Galaxy Note on Straight Talk. I am unable to get a 3G or 4G signal at my office on my Galaxy Note so am forced to tether it to my iPhone 4s on Verizon. My iPhone is jailbroken and I am using MyWi. I prefer to use BT tethering because it takes hardly any power compared to WiFi tethering even when the power output settings for WiFi tethering in MyWi set to 10%

The procedure for BT tethering the Android device requires the Android device be set to airplane mode. Does anyone know of method to tether to the iPhone without turning on airplane mode on the Android device?

I'll answer my own post so others may benefit.

Although the procedure to setup BT tethering does involve going into airplane mode and after a successful tether, turning off airplane mode disconnects the BT tether, it can be re enabled by going into BT settings and reconnecting to the already paired device. This works when not in airplane mode.
