Budget Android Recommendation

pgb205

Lurker
Carrier options are tmobile, verizon

Needs to have fm, mp3, video camera and recording, decent battery--at least one day of moderate use.
I'm somewhat interested in LG optimus as it's free with contract

However it does say that it won't support flash 10.1. I take it to mean that it will play flash just won't support the latest features on this specific version (10.1)
What other inexpensive androids would you recommend?

thanks

I would recommend the LG Optimus One. Cheap for a brand new Android that is.

If you want an inexpensive Android that can handle Flash, I say, you need to look for a second hand one that is high end with the power needed and comes with Froyo.

It would really help to post your budget. Expensive and inexpensive are both highly subjective.

Is Flash a must-have or nice-to-have item?

Battery life always depends highly on your personal usage. Don't assume that you'll get amazing battery life out of one device and drastically worse battery life with another. With any option you're going to have to look into battery usage and address your battery hogs.

This is my first Android phone, so my advice might not be the best, but I have an Optimus U (on US Cellular) and so far I'm pretty happy with it. Battery life is actually better than my old Tritan, I'd say that with moderate use you could easily get a day out of a full charge, maybe more. If I remember right, the T-Mobile version of the Optimus has an FM tuner, but the Verizon version doesn't. You may want to check on that.

If you use the internet a ton, I'd spend a little more on a phone that will fully support Flash, but if that's not within your budget, you'd probably be happy with an Optimus.

thanks. No i don't think that i would use internet alot. but google maps and gps might get a lot of use. I'm curious as to what you mean by 'fully supports flash'. I would be satisfied if the phone can play videos on youtube and facebook. that's about all flash support i really care about.

Well if your going for a cheap phone, and you want Verizon, which I think is the best carrier out there. Currently Best Buy has the Samsung Fascinate for $50 with a new contract or a upgrade. Which personally with Verizon that is the best Deal around on a rocking phone. I picked mine up on Monday and I absolutely love the Fascinate.

If that's all you need then it should work for ya.
