Help Bugs after root

alowishus

Newbie
Recently rooted my phone, and now I have some bugs and what seems to be severe loss of memory. Going into recovery and clearing the cache is the only way too fix it. This is only a temporary solution at best. Any thoughts?

I downloaded titanium backup and froze some of verizon's bloatware, but that's peru much it. Haven't decided on which custom rom I'd like to try.

what seems to be severe loss of memory
you mean lack of free memory?
do not use a task killer
consider using v6 supercharger
downloaded titanium backup and froze some of verizon's bloatware
may want to unfreeze some and see if it runs better
some bloat is tried to other system functions
but may be an app you installed causing the problem
also could be widgets and blur launcher, may want to try holo launcher
not as memory hungry and easier to backup your home screen apps and widgets

If you are planning on remaining on stock you will continue to have problems stemming from stock blur software and it being very inefficient with memory. I've tried freezing apps and all kinds of memory managers but nothing beats the performance of cyanogen mod 7 which is blur free or the eclipse rom. Eventually you will end up there.

I tried flashing the eclipse rom for 2.3.5, rsd said there were no files in there to flash. Should I follow the procedure on their site to the letter?

And thanks for the tips themib, I think I'm just going to flash a custom rom.

rsd lite only flashes .sbf files signed by moto

you need DX2 bootstrap/bsr

Yes you can, or you can:

1. Download the 2.3.5 SBF found HERE
2. Perform the SBF and choose the 2.3.5 file mentioned above
3. Root 2.3.5 using this method
4. Download the Eclipse ROM and put it on your SD card
5. Install the Bootstrap Recovery
6. Reboot into bootstrap recovery
7. Wipe data
8. Flash eclipse ROM

The video links themib posted are great. Shows you everything step by step.

roms are pre rooted
but with x2, the bootstrap needs to be activated in eclipse parts, other roms like cm7 have a special bootstrap

yes, that was a pretty noob question but that's just fine! ;)
No, custom ROMs cannot be installed or exist on a non-rooted device. In order to unroot or take the phone back to stock you have to perform the SBF process to either the 2.3.4 or 2.3.5 firmware. That will take it back to its un-rooted state.

stuck in a boot loop....
- Pull the battery, put it back in
- Power on while holding vol down till you see "fastboot"
- Scroll down till you see "Android Recovery"
- Press vol up
- When you see triangle and exclamation mark press vol up and down at the same time
- scroll down to wipe data, then wipe cache
- Reboot.

BTW, What step were you on in the flashing process?

I simply installed the rom from the sd card using the DX2 bootstrap. thank you so much for all the help. i thought i was forgetting some step to remove the boot loop. i had to flash 2.3.5 when i first bought the phone. old user was rocking cm9 and i couldn't use the dialpad when i went to activate the phone. huge problem with verizon. you folks are awesome. nice to know there is help for those of us midly clueless users.

Very cool! Glad you got it working. You will definitely enjoy. The ICS ROMs are way too buggy right now and in my opinion pretty unreliable so if I always end up coming back to either Eclipse or CM7. CM7 has more customizations than Eclipse but is just as good. Check out the videos to see them in action.
