Build JRO03S?

So I just got a new a job about a month ago and after seeing how much my mom loved my first toy with it, the Nexus 7, I decided that it would be a nice little surprise gift to get her as well. So I was lucky enough to buy it on Sunday to get the $25 Google Play credit, and here I am setting it up for her all nice and pretty, and I noticed that her Build version is JRO03S. I'm still on JRO03D. Is there any way to upgrade the binaries? I am rooted and unlocked but no custom ROM.

Also, if I click System Updates, it says I'm up to date. Thanks for any input!

There have been quite a few reports of people getting that build in new devices or after a swap recently.
Sadly tho, no ota update yet. Google did release some new binaries a while ago for the devs, presumably those are present in JRO03R and JRO03S as well, but no official release of those has been pushed out.
If you really want you should be able to push the binaries to your device yourself, or get a rom that includes them, or just wait until the complete build is released.
But correct me if I'm wrong anybody, you will lose root if you update OTA. That's what used to happen in the past anyway. So in any case you'd probably be best off flashing manually.

Obviously there will be bug fixes in the update but I wonder what they will be. I don't have any issues with my N7. It's still JR003D.

I'm just curious because my screen has been unresponsive to the touch, and I'm curious because a firmware update can potentially fix that kind of issue.

Have you dropped it? Is the screen cracked? Unresponsive screen is the most common symptom. Unfortunately I know this first hand. :o

No no no nothing like that. It's just that sometimes it gets unresponsive but if I lock and unlock the screen, it goes back to normal
