Help Built in Weather app widget

ElaineA

Lurker
My phone came with a built in weather widget that shows time of day, under that it shows the date, under that it shows a sun peaking out from behind clouds, and under that it used to show the weather for wherever I was.

Now it just says "Tap here to add a city". When I tap on it, a search bar comes up with a current location icon next to it.

I can click on the current location icon and my current city comes up. When I click on it, I get "connection failed". The same thing happens when I type in any city. It shows up in a list under the search bar and when I click on it, I get "connection failed". I'm not sure what connection can fail since it does know my current location.

How do I get it back to working?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Elaine

Your internet connection.
If you were on wifi disconnect from wifi and try on your mobile data. If that doesn't work then toggle airplane mode on and off and try again.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. Haven't been online in a few days.

Thanks for the suggestions, but they did not help. I switched wi-fi off ... no change. Switched it back on again ... no change. Put the phone in airplane mode. then it says "Network unavailable" when I tap on "add city". Turn airplane mode off, ... no change ... still can't add a city.

I agree with Blu8 - the error message suggests problems with internet connectivity (not problem with gps). Check again that you have a working internet connection.

If internet it working fine, try to find the app in settings / manage-apps and clear cache and data.

If still not working, try rebooting phone.

Maybe google search for inf about the particular app if you know it's name to see if the developers or other users have any insight.

Otherwise if still not resolved, I'd probably give up on this widget...The site or server supplying the data may have stopped. You can get plenty of widgets in the playstore to do the same thing.
