Help Bunch of questions...

I have a few questions:

1. Waking up the phone
How do I wake up the phone when the screen turns off? I have to first click the power button and then unlock the screen. This is crazy. Why can't I just wake up the phone by touching the home or menu capacitive buttons?

2. Accounts & Sync
What does this section for? Is it for setting up gmail in the native email app?
Why do I have a separate gmail app running in the background? What does that have to do with the samsung app? I don't recall setting that app with my account..
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

3. Calling and listening to music
Funny thing... when I am on the phone with someone, they can also hear the songs I am listening. Say what?! This doesn't happen in my wife's iPhone.

4. Disconnect phone/mute with headphones
In my previous blackberry phone, I could mute my phone by pressing on the mute button on the earphones (Bose mIE2). Here... it just plain disconnects the call.

5. Why does my battery meter show that Gmail has eaten up 40% of my battery life? The icing on the cake is that AT&T sent me a text saying that I used 65% of my data allowance. I am sure that Gmail is the culprit - it just looks plain guilty.

I am a noob, please be kind. I have come here from 8 years of toiling with the blackberries.... this is all new to me:eek:
Thanks

1. So you aren't accidentally turning the screen on every time you touch your phone in any way.

2. This is so you can sync your e-mail contacts, facebook contacts, etc with your phone. I keep all of that turned off. I use facebook, but I don't need all of my facebook "friends" in my damn phone. And I don't need e-mail addresses showing up in my Contacts..

3. That is strange. Most music apps automatically pause the song when your phone rings or when you place a call. I don't know what to make of that.

4. No idea what you're talking about..lol

5. Gmail might be set to sync every 5 minute or something. Go to Menu > Accounts and Sync > and click on the Google one and deselect everything. Unless you can find a way to tell it not to sync as often? I'm not sure where to do that. I just looked and can't find anything. I don't really use gmail so I turned it all off.

Thanks! If I do #5, will Google still push my emails to the messages app?

I figured out #4. When using a headphone during a call, normally you can
mute a call by doing a short press of the mute button
or disconnect by doing a long press of the button.

In the Samsung, it is reversed. Short press disconnects and long press mutes.

#3: I am using google music to play songs. It continues to play music (very very loudly) during a phone call - and, the person I am speaking with can also hear the music. Crazy...

I'm not sure because I don't use it. I use an aol address, and there is no aol account sync on the phone, yet I still get my e-mails. So, if gmail is the same, you can turn off the email sync and still get e-mails. Know what I mean? In theory, of course.
