I got mine a week ago and it has been great. I have charged it many times with no problems. I just took it off the charger this morning and it was so hot to the touch that I would have been burned without the case. I have noticed the charger unit getting hot before but not the tablet itself. Has anyone else experienced this? Do I need to exchange it?

Hmm, you might want to try a different charger, sounds like you might have a faulty one.
Otherwise, if the device continues to heat up like that it could be a hardware issue, in turn you would definitely want to replace it.
