T-Mobile USA has agreed to pay a $40 million fine after admitting that it failed to complete phone calls in rural areas and used "false ring tones" that created the appearance that the calls were going through and no one was picking up.

"To settle this matter, T-Mobile admits that it violated the Commission's prohibition against the insertion of false ring tones and that it did not correct problems with delivery of calls to certain rural areas," states an order issued by the Federal Communications Commission today.

Wow, so now you know why that person you called 20 times said they had no missed calls from you!
 
Don't forget to pay your slap-on-the-wrist fine to the U.S. Treasury and do NOTHING for the customers you've been screwing for 10 years.

All employees are now required to follow ethical protocols developed by Starbucks. :rolleyes:

Yeah, it's pretty bogus that they pay a fine to the commission instead of having to reimburse customers that they screwed over.
 
Well you get what you pay for. I've been with Verizon for 18 years and never had any regrets. I laugh when I see these new sprint commercials talk about their "1%" difference from Verizon, meanwhile all my coworkers who have sprint can't get a signal at work and have to go outside to make a call or download anything .

Not to defend T-Mobile's action in this instance but Verizon isn't a shining beacon of how things should be either:
And that's just a handful of FCC fines I pulled from a Google search - without even getting into Big Red's long history of anti-consumer practices.

Also, I have solid LTE speeds in my concrete-and-cinder-block workplace while my coworkers on Verizon have no service - despite them paying on average $30/mo more than me. You don't necessarily "get what you pay for" - you get what you choose based on careful research to find what provider and plan works best for you. ;)
