Busybox

[Russ71]

I've been reading that busy box is important, but, I have root and things work appropriately. What is the purpose for the updates? And what does the app benefit you by installing?

Busybox is a collection of simple, but powerful, Linux utilities, that android doesn't come with by default. It is used by apps like MetaMorph and Titanium backup in order to do special operations.

Edit - I realise that the following is an old thread, but check it out: http://androidforums.com/ally-all-things-root/235909-what-busybox.html

There are several root apps that require busybox. He updates busybox frequently due to added applets that someone has requested, changing the method of install, bug fixes, etc.
You don't have to reinstall busybox every time the app is updated.

I use busybox because I like using the Unix command line.

I use T.B. key (a life-saver, btw), but, Busy box was always recommended as a necessary app in readings of android. They didn't really explain why you needed it though. I rarely ever write in the command line. Thanks for the reply and the info.
