Buying Razr Maxx HD off contract

how about u just go on motorolas website and get the phone that way when u get the phone take to ur verizon store and get it activated and presto you got a phone and ur still paying less than what verizon is charging you

Why go through all that when it's the same price as it is at Verizon?? $299 on contract, $649 full retail.

I'd be willing to bet that wasn't a corporate Verizon store... All corporate stores have the same pricing as buying through Verizon online or over the phone (at least full retail, upgrades may differ).... Other Verizon stores like Cellular Sales or World Cellular, etc are authorized retailers and can set their own pricing to a degree.

And how much data do you people really use in order to "need" to keep unlimited so bad? I mean, I was one of the ones complaining about losing unlimited and what not just like you... But once I actually looked at what we use on our plan I realized we really DON'T need unlimited. For three smartphones on my account we might use a total of 3-4gb a month... I got the 8gb plan and my bill is actually about the same or slightly cheaper per month. There are very few people who actually need unlimited... Though they think they do. And I get the argument of "you never know when you might need it"... But sooner or later you're gonna have to switch anyway, unless you can afford to pay $700 for a phone for the rest of your life. Might as well get it over with because by the time you do end up switching to the new plan, the prices are probably gonna be even more expensive.
Don't forget some of us have corporate discount pricing for data. I pay $24.90 a month for unlimited data(17% discount). I would lose that discount for VZW'S new $30 month 2 gb plan. No brainer here!

I'd check locally but I was told I could keep my old u/l plan until next year when they start phasing them out completely. If you don't sign up for a new contract, ie renew with a new phone, you are on month to month, which means they can unplug your u/l plan anytime anyway. I looked at usage and the math didn't work for me anyway with shared plan, so I took the new plan, contract, loyalty discount, etc, and got the RHD for $250. I only pay for data now, everything else is included.

thats what i was thinking. after removing the price for text and talk plus ulmd data, i would pay the same with the 12 gig data. i just get mad that they create these great phones that update all the time, and i know you can disable that to an extent, then yank the unlim data. like a crack dealer. get you hooked for free then bammo,

My plan has 5 phones on it, 3 of them being smart phones. We use just under 10 gig a month. To go to that plan would cost me am additional $50 a month. So I paid full price for my phone. It's arrogance to assume you can know what other peoples needs are!

No one said that unlimited is not needed at all... Just that most people think they need it when they really don't. Chill

i would never tell someone how to use their phone or anything but i do know that i have seen people on youtube on their phone sitting next to a pc. why not just use the pc. 2 things are going to happen in the phone world.
1-we know about unlimited data being yanked
2-subsidizing of phones will go away

we are seeing number one already, and the second one is a self inflicted one. verizon will take this as an open door and walk through it. if we are doing it already why not.

use your phone anyway you want and then when all these things happen just dont be surprised or mad. take it in stride. 20 years ago we had none of this.
