Bye bye Apple, Hello Droid!

Lurker
Hey guys, new here on the boards, stalked for about two weeks and figured wth, may as well join. I am a former AT&T iPhone 3GS owner, recently switched to Verizon for the Droid Charge. Very happy so far with my decision. I also made the switch before they did away with the unlimited data plan, so that was a good thing.

I just love that this phone doesn't tell you how to use it. I never jailbroke my iPhone, but I hated that Apple strictly controlled what apps made it to the App Store and you pretty much had to go through them for everything.

Still have yet to root it, but I plan to, maybe something to do this weekend. I really wanted to wait for the Galaxy S2, but seeing as how that is gonna release after the data cap, I was kinda forced to pull the trigger on the Charge. Plus when I got to the Verizon store, it was the model the salesman carried, he loved it. He said it pwnd the TB in terms of battery life and he loved the screen. They didn't have a display model, but I was able to check his out. Super fast, the apps open up real quick, unlike my old iPhone which took forever. Oh and 4G...I think Im in love. I don't have it in my area, but there are a couple spots within 30 miles of me that do and it flies on 4G.

And for those of you that don't feel like reading...

super glad I made the switch.

Welcome to Android Forums!

Samsung Droid Charge - Android Forums would be a good place for you to settle in. As far as rooting goes, you should only do that if there's something you need that requires root. You'd be surprised how much you can do stock. Of course rooting isn't all that hard, but it has had it's little quirks. Read up about them in the rooting subsection to see the issues rooted users deal with and then determine if it's worth it or not.
