Bye Bye IDEN

Yeah I have read everything I can find on the upgarades and I hope that will fix the problems. I just can not figure out why 50% of the time DC will not resume when returning from roam. If they just switch the iden tower near me to evdo would help some. I think the biggest problem here is if I drive one direction I have good sprint service, an other direction no sprint but good iden and an other direction only roam. At least with the admiral I do not have to carry two phones all the time, just have to reboot 2 or 3 times a day.

Temp solution for some of us.
Hi i have my admrial now for 3 days and i've been having the problem where the DC does not come back after roaming. i even tried going in and out of airplane mode and it does not come back to DC , i have to power down and re boot. where i live i have great coverage where i live and where i work. the only reason it goes into roaming is when i go into a building where the signal becomes week and drops out then it goes into roaming. so either way in roaming or not i will not get a signal so i turned the roaming feature off in the phone. now when i loose a signal in a building or in a freak location i may drive thru at least i don't have to power down and re boot to get my DC working again. so far this is working great for ME cause i live on long island ny and work in Manhattan so the coverage is almost excellent according to sprints map, so from home to work so it does not have to go into roaming. i'd say to try this and see if it works for you until sprint comes up with a solution for this problem

I am glad to hear I am not the only one with this problem. I thought about trying to turn off roam but I like to still receive calls when I drive through a roam area. I have noticed if I only roam for a couple minutes the DC will come back on its own, but if you roam for an hour or more it will never return. I wonder where is a good place to file a complaint about this problem.

Call Sprint and put in a complaint. i did about the serviace dropping inside my home and have full bars outside, and they are sending me a Airave free and waving the $4 monthly fee.
tell them you use the phone for work

Ok a follow up. shutting off roaming does not fully cure the problem. It helps reduce the ammount of time my direct connect wont come back on with out a hard reset. So its not the roaming that is the problem it seams to be when it comes out of network it won't reset back in. this seams to be it could be some kind of softwaer glitch and hopefully a update will be out soon to fix it.

So today i stopped off at sprint to see if there is something that can be done about the DC shutting down and not comming back on. He said In Mid March there will be something called a MRL update that is supposed to fix this problem. so i guess we have to wait another month and a half. at least it looks like they arw aware of the problem and working to fix it.

Glad to hear there maybe some hope, sure hope it comes true, it seems like one phone or the other is always in need a reboot. Because of this glitch I'm only able to get about 40% usage of DC on these phones. And I thought I had read that DC should work while roaming, they can't even get them to work all the time on the sprint system.

Are you sure it was a MRL update and not a PRL update?

There seems to be a newer PRL out now and since I tried it my phones have not lost DC yet, however I have not roamed much yet.

Update:
Only small improvement in lost DC after roaming
