Bye bye X10..

x10:/

Lurker
Phone has being playing up for months. The 2.1 update did nothing to resolve the shockingly quiet call volume, numerous dropped calls and poor performance.

I rang orange UK to express my concerns and they're going to replace my handset. They didn't have any x10's in stock so a xperia arc is in the post to me as I type this.

They told me about the numerous complaints regarding the x10 which didn't surprise me at all.

I thought this might be useful info for any orange customers having problems with their x10 as you won't get lumbered with the same phone.

Who knows whether the arc will be any good, but at least having some better hardware and newer os should help.

cheers

so ur basically trading ur x10 for an arc? as much as i love this phone, that sounds like a pretty sweet deal :P

TBH Im on Orange and I havent had a problem othere than the quiet calls. How did you get them to exchange it cause I dont want to get a recon? Did you just call up and complain once or was it a number or times?

I'm literally just off the phone with Orange myself. My x10 has been playing up for months now - drops calls, bad reception, the other night I plugged it into charge and it literally kept switching off, starting-up, and switching itself off after about 10 seconds for about an hour. Also, won't seem to let me upgrade through the internet.. gets to a certain point and rerstarts itself.

Am going to get my replacement between 9am and 1pm tomorrow morning. Asked the guy on the line if it breaks a third time, will I have any right to ask for a newer model phone, and he said it wouldn't be a problem as "the x10 isn't the most reliable Sony Ericsson phone out there"... that fills me with such confidence!

Oh well, watch this space...

Its worth asking your carrier as the arc is simply a newer and updated version of the x10. It has all the same features and looks similar.

I've had the arc for about a week.

It's so much better than the x10 in every way.

Call volume is good, no dropped calls, better camera, up to date os and better built.

I was going to just sell it and go for another brand like htc or something, but I'm actually reasonably impressed.
