BYOD in Atlanta?

Thanks! Haha :D

So I will have to get a phone that can use AWS 1700/2100?
Yes.

And if you want LTE capable you need AWS HSPA and AWS LTE.

Tmobile uses 1700/2100 for just about everything.

Your best options for a BYOD are going to be a tmobile phone, next certain at&t phones, such as the note 2 and the S4 that have the right hardware and only need a software unlock open the frequency bands.

The google edition S4 also works, though the google edition Htc One does not.

the Note 1 and the S3 can also work, (AT&T branded) but the steps to make them work are not simple and not really permanent. In the case of the note 1 the modem can be flashed to tmobile, making it a permanent fix but then no lte. because the tmobile note one does not have lte.

:p:D

OK simplest terms with the phone he is using he does not get tmobiles normal HSPA+ but because tmobile has reworked some of the towers to broadcast HSPA on 1900 frequency, AT&T normal frequency he will pick up faster speeds then what he would if he lived where 1900 is only broadcasting edge signal (2G)

But the SkyRocket is LTE capable and at&t uses 700 mhz and AWS (1700/2100) for LTE which is good because tmobile uses AWS (1700/2100).

So for recap he can pick up LTE if he is near a LTE ready tower and it will be fast. but for the rest of the time its going to be under 14mbs down probably under 8mbs down

I asked what data signals I will be able to use with the skyrocket and you are the only one who answered with a reasonable answer. Thanks! :D

What?! D: The One GE was my main choice!

Damn :/ Well I guess I'm going for the one on T-Mobile. I'll just wait and see how everything works out. Mom is considering switching to T-Mobile, but isn't sure yet.

If the t mobile one was slightly cheaper, and had option for getting rid of sense overlay I would love to get it.

actually come to think of it I think with the google edition out a pure stock version is available. just no wifi calling :(

It also has the steep price point, maybe later when that goes way down lol

4gLte in Atlanta. Its definitely good compared to the CDMA metropcs speeds.

Yes you see that 4g LTE icon, however im surprised your upload is that low, normally on LTE your looking at upload of 4-8+ could just be the work they are doing though, speeds all over are suffering at the moment.:)

Interesting on my wife's s4 I have not seen the lte icon at least not inside the house or around town, and Tampa is indeed tmobile lte now so anything in settings that I might be missing?

You might try checking the frequency the phone is on, dial *#0011# and see what it says.

You could also force it to LTE if the signal isn't strong enough it wont switch, that is the way the S3 I have here is, the nexus gets LTE all the time but the s3 only gets it if I force it too.

Dial *#2263# chose LTE then band 4 The problem with that is at that point it will not make/receive phone calls so you need to hit menu back and put back to automatic.
and if it has LTE signal and its strong enough it will hold it. At least for a while.

Man there used to be one bad ass southern cafeteria at the State Farmer's Market in Forest Park. <lips smacking>
